Energy Industries - Closer to a stable regulatory platform

The energy industries, and electricity in particular, have never been strangers to regulatory and political intervention. Law change, market reform and regulatory uncertainty has been a reality for years, and 2010 saw two of the most seismic shifts to come about probably since 1998.

The Electricity Industry Act 2010 and the Commerce Commission's decisions on input methodologies for regulated services are discussed in this article, along with the Commerce Commission watching brief for 2011.
